Message: "Urania" - Behind the Name

I know the name entry says the usual pronunciation is yu-RAIN-ia, but I heard it pronounced u-RAHN-ia in my classical history class and I love it so much more. Rani would make a really cute nickname. What do you think? I think it's pretty but has a solemn gravitas to it at the same time.

I have always loved this name but I would dread to use it in an English-speaking country :/ I do think it is gorgeous.

I think that after a few years at elementary school with its potential for excretory jokes, a young Urania would be ready to pronounce it like Sarah! Better than Uranus, admittedly: going through life as Your Anus would be horrific.

I was very fond of Ourania for some time, and the spelling is much more forgiving and less evocative of Uranus or, as someone helpfully brought up, urine. I much prefer Ourania to Urania.

All I can think of is Uranus and urine. It’s not usable.
