Help[Opinions] Arthur
I've never thought much about this name before but after reading a book with the protagonist named this, I don't know, guess it started to grow on me. I actualy never met anyone named 'Arthur' and the associations I do have with this name have never been negative, which is a plus.
I'm not certain if I would use it but if I did, it would most likely be as a middle name.
So...what are your thoughts? I'm curious to know.

It is my sons name. It was the only name I never had doubts about it. I love the meaning, the sound (the Rs), the history/literature behind.

I love Arthur and apparently everyone else does where I live haha. I think it’s a strong, handsome name with a softer side and sound too. It works really well as a middle too.

I like it as a middle name. It doesn’t really have any good nicknames for me to use it as a first name.

I think it’s one of my least favorite, one of the ugliest names I can think of. Partly, because, of the Arhur and DW stories I read as a kid. That ugly little critter is the first thing that pops up in my mind.
Also... Because my brother always said he would name his son Arthur, because it was such an ugly name and any girl that let him name a son Arthur would be really great, lol. When he got married he teased his now-wife about it and she just let it slide... My sister in law still refuses to consider it now though! And quite frankly, I am glad!

I like Art as a nickname but not really a fan. It sounds stuffy and old, like a library so dusty you can barely breathe. Almost fantasy like, in a way, like a magical sorcerer with a cool staff that lives in a hollow in a forest. I think of that before I think of any person named Arthur, though I did meet one I didn't like at all once and I think that that Arthur was the only one I ever met.

I've never met an Arthur, which I think helps me like the name. I've also become more fond of it when he was the main character in a video game I played.

I love it when pronounced in English and I did consider using it for my son, but decided against it since I don't love the Swedish prn as much. If I were to have another son Arthur would still be on my short list though.

I have a negative association with it because there was a boy in my kindergarten class named Arthur who was overweight, and you don't see that many overweight five-year-olds. At least, you didn't back then. I remember when we wore our costumes to school for Halloween and Arthur was a skeleton and when I told my father, he thought that was hilarious, a fat skeleton. So to me it's a fat boy name.
I think Arthur's family must have moved because I don't remember him after kindergarten.

Frist, I do not want to attack you (you feel, what you feel and there is nothing wrong with it), it is just what came to my mind reading your comment:
1. I am a bit shocked, that the overweight of a little boy is enough to make a negative association. I mean: Maybe overweight Arthur was a lovely person, does not that count? Do you remember how he was?
If every person who does not appeal me visually would ruin its name, I had no names left to use xD
2. A father laughing about a little boy and his costume sounds mean :S I hope the kids did not do the same when Arthur was around.
