Help[Opinions] Darwin, Adair and Ileana ...
WDYT of the name Darwin for a boy? Aside from any connations with Charles Darwin, WDYT of it? Do you think it could work on a little boy in this day and age?
Adair has been back on my mind lately as well? WDYT of it? How would you pronounce it?
Last month I had asked my nephew which of my favorite names he liked best and he picked Ileana & Hugh : )
This month I was sitting on the bed scribbling names down and he asked me what I was doing then asked me to read them aloud. As I read each one aloud he would repeat them back to me and when I read Ileana out loud he got this big grin on his face and he sounds so cute saying it.
He also really likes the name Ian, but I think that is because he has a friend named Ian.
I was also pleasantly surprised to see a little girl named Ileana pictured in my local paper. I have never seen Ileana used in real life : )
So WDYT, Ileana Ruth? Everett, Ella & Ileana? Is Ileana too similar sounding to Ella? Too long? Nearly everyone in my family has a two-syllable name.
Which one would you be more inclined to see me naming my son?

Dominic
Desmond
Vincent
Stellan
Or something else?

Darwin's been on my list for .. I think almost as long as I've had one written down. Totally it could work. Well, for me anyway. I think any associations with C.Darwin namesakeage would go away if it were on a real guy. Darwin is my "guilty pleasure surname name" .. besides, I rather like the implication of Darwin being a namesakeable figure for his scientific work.
Adair is not my style - it seems kind of flip and theatrical; second syllable stress in male names is only occasionally masculine enough for my taste. (I'd pronounce it: uh-DARE.)
I like Ileana Ruth. I wouldn't name a sister of Ileana, Ella - next to Ileana, Ella fades away into the shadows.
I'm inclined to think you'd call him Dominic, but I'd rather see you call him Vincent. Vincent & Ileana?

Ileana is really pretty. I prefer Iliana--it looks more stream-lined to me--but either spelling is very nice. And if the nephew likes it--it's in the bag, right? ;) Ileana Ruth is lovely. Very balanced sounding to me.
Darwin is one I just don't like. I've got nothing against Charles--I believe in evolution and my faith in God somehow wasn't shattered--but I've read The Nanny Diaries. There's a monstrously bratty kid named Darwin in that book. He's very minor, but he stuck in my mind. So Darwin's out for me, though I do like Edwin / Darian / Darren / Darius / Corwin pretty well.
Adair is neat looking, though it's always sounded consumptive to me--I wouldn't expect Adair Julian Young, as an example, to live past the age of twenty. He'd fade away beautifully in bed, pale and dark-haired, with a reassurance to his lady-love on his dry lips and a pure heart slowing its beats. :P I say uh-DARE when I pronunce it (just like "a dare").
I'm not sure what you'd name a son, though I'd be okay with any of those options. :)

It's one of those that I sort of like, but I'm not sold on. You've just confused my opinions on the name, though. I sort of liked it for a girl, but now I don't know. I prn it Uh-dare.

I'm sorry i don't like Darwin at all ,because of Charles Darwin. I cant get past that, nor can iget past it as the name of the dolphin on Seaquest DSV
