My mother's family came from Glasgow with McDade name. I'd like to know how it's both irish and Scot

According to Black's The Surnames of Scotland, MacDade and MacDaid which are "found mostly in Glasgow are forms of Irish MacDabhéid 'son of Davet', diminutive form of David".
