[Opinions] Keith
WDYTO Keith?

It's just the worst.
Keith is a bit of a wet blanket of a name. It's not offensive or bad, just flat.
I would be very surprised to see it on a kid.

This is my dad's name but he uses a nickname, growing up I only ever heard his family call him Keith, all of his friends and my mother and her family used his nickname. It's also my brother's middle name.
I don't know how I feel about it. I guess the sound really isn't too bad but I know it has SUCH a bad rap (and I'm not quite sure why). I definitely wouldn't use it as a first name and I would be totally surprised to meet a little Keith - though not bad surprise, I guess it would be a pleasant surprise.
I'm considering using it as a middle name if I ever had a son to honour my father, although his middle name is Andrew and that is much easier to pair than Keith.

Hi !!!
This name surprised me.
I love that means "wood" and its ancient origin (Brythonic cet) is fascinating.
About the pronounciation I noticed that it is similar to Kit but the spelling is more elaborated.
If I have to pronounce it without a guide it would sound more similar to "Kate" than to "Kit".
Anyway...
Keith is a short name with a familiar sound. It is ageless and I like its meaning. I hope in a comeback.

I really like it. Maybe a tad outdated, but I don’t care.
I really don't know! For a long time it's had just one association for me, and since that is with a very dear friend, I'm biased. If I'd had enough sons, I'd certainly have used Keith somewhere: it sounds fine with our ln, but I think I might have kept it in the middle. Perhaps because it is dated? But that doesn't usually bother me.
Once I taught a boy named Leith. He had an ordinary Afrikaans ln, and I never asked him about where Leith came from - the place, maybe, or a family name, who knows? But I liked it very much, once again perhaps because I liked its owner.

My neighbor's name. He's pushing sixty, I think. He's very Keith-y too, a mild mannered, smiling, fit guy.
I feel like it's pretty dated. I'm ambivalent about the sound of it. I've had it on my favorites forever but the lispyness has started to bother me. It's sort of a GP, since I thought it sounded handsome when I was a child in the 1970s.

I sort of like it, and sort of don’t, I have a good name association with it, and also a really dorky kid in grade school that tattled in everyone one. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, really. It’s not like Gary or Donald or Darrel, dated and ugly. It’s just kind of a name that floats around and I’d be happy to meet a little Keith. Lol
