[Opinions] Maggie
We previously posted names for a baby girl we are expecting in a few months. The responses were greatly helpful. Now, I have another question. WDYT of Maggie as a nickname for either Margaret or Margit (pronounced "Mar-geet")? Our last name begins with "J."
Thanks so much.

I like the nickname Maggie but I always thought Margaret sounded like an old lady's name
I think Margaret is a beautiful name in itself and doesn't need a nickname. My younger sister is named Margaret and she has always been just Margaret ever since she was a baby, nobody has ever called her Maggie/Meg/Marge (well, I do call her Margaritaville sometimes, but I'm her sister so I can get away with it ~_^.)
I love Maggie, I think its gorgeous. I would go with Margaret over Margit...Margaret is timeless and strong and Margit is harsh and not as easy to pronounce IMO. My favourite though is Marguerite with the nickname Daisy.
Either way it seems like your daughter will have a very pretty, adaptable and timeless name :)

I like Maggie.
I like almost every nickname there is for Margaret etc., though. So if I had picked out Margaret or Margit, I'd be eager to find out which one ended up fitting her naturally (maybe wouldn't know for a year or so). Maggie wouldn't fit all Margarets, I don't think - it's dominant, dynamic, and playful seeming to me.

It's ok. I'm not crazy about it.
