I didn’t see the appeal back when people here on BtN were really into Angelica, but I’ve very recently come to adore it. Thoughts, opinion, middle name ideas?

My top association is the plant/flower Angelica. The delicate bunches of white flowers remind me of Baby's Breath and in some places it is regarded as an herb.
It does come across as a bit too precious, but I don't dislike it. The hard 'c' gives it a bit more oomph compared to other angel names, which can come across as brassy. While Angelina reminds me of a ballerina, Angelica seems more like a headstrong force of nature.

Over-ornate and over-sweet, like the green cake decoration. The only Angel- name I enjoy is Angela, and even that doesn't count as a favourite.
Angelica Irene is too much. First the angel, then the peace. Heavy-handed, like an attempt by the teenage authors who sometimes post, asking if we think that a suitable name for a naive, beautiful heroine would be Daisy Innocentia or Innocentia Daisy.

I didn’t even know Irene meant peace, Angelica Irene was actually a name I made in a CAF and wrote down because I liked it.
My problem with all the Angel- names is the possibility of the nickname “Angie” which I loathe.

I keep forgetting about Angela ...
It's a nice enough name, nothing wrong with it, except it's so forgettable. I like it better than I like fellow forgettables Sarah and Jennifer, but still. I think if I had to find a name that was similar in forgettableness and vibe, it would be Grace, which I also like but feel like it's just blah; it once had a very special meaning, but now so many have used it for that reason that the shiny is worn away.

This reminds me of a section in Stephen King's autobiography. He talks about his character, an innocent man on trial for murder, having the initials JC, and how critics complained that that was too obvious. I'm unsure what my opinion on the matter is.
I'm not keen on the flow of Angelica Irene and I'm not a fan of either name, really. But most non-name-nerds wouldn't get the heavy-handedness, IMO.
Also, Innocentia Daisy... yeah, I would put the book down.

I can see the appeal; it has a similar frilly-but-old-school-charm about it as Annabel or Amelia. I personally don't like the "-lick" sound smack dab in the middle, so I prefer Angelina.

It's my least favorite of the Angel names. The only Angel name I really like wholeheartedly is Angelina, and even that I don't like it enough to want to use it.

I don't like it. I think it sounds overly frilly and cold. I also think it has too many strong associations to think about it objectively. Angelica Schuyler, Angelica Houston, Angelica from Rugrats.

Funny, I just finished reading "My Dear Hamilton", about Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, the wife of Alexander Hamilton. The name Angelica is mentioned frequently because it was the name of Eliza's intelligent, daring, humorous, unconventional yet practical and also beautiful and sexy older sister. On the other hand, Eliza and Alex named their oldest daughter Angelica after her sister and she turned out to be mentally ill for most of her life. Also on the other hand, Eliza was left wondering whether or not her husband and her sister had an affair, so......yeah.
I'm torn between finding Angelica beautiful and unspeakably bratty. It's both, I guess. Angelica Irene is quite nice.

I adore Angelica! It sounds refined and delicate, but not fragile - like a ballerina.
