Hey

I've been watching the second series of Rock School and one of the girls on the show was called Samanie (pronounced Sa-man-ee). I'm just curious what the meaning is basically - at the moment I'm guessing it's possibly either a derivative of Samantha or another feminine form of Samuel. If anybody knows please feel free to reply to this or PM me.

After a quick google search it looks like Samanie is both a last name and a species of fish.

I don't know the meaning, but I know a guy named Saman, maybe this is a feminine form? (he's Iranian btw)

Found it!

According to two sites, the name is of Persian origin, and means 'shelter and security'.
