I'm not sure why I dislike it as much as I do. I think it sounds dowdy, angry, mannish, and dated (reminds me of
Barney and
Manny). It looks little bit like "meanie," and sounds a little bit like "carny" and "smarmy" ...
I don't know, I think really it just boils down to personal aesthetics. I don't like it and therefore I could find a lot of things not to like about it. I usually like
Mar- names ... just not
Marnie. I feel like stylewise, it seems antique, like
Myrtle and
Bessie and
Hattie.
