There was a girl named
Sloane in my high school class. As she was in my class, she would have been born no earlier than 1959 and no later than 1961, so this was long before the surnames on girls craze.
I remember being taken aback by her name. There were a few other girls in my class who had names that weren't very popular when we were born, such as
Celeste,
Helen,
Bernadette, and
Mimi, but
Sloane was different in a different way. Not in a "You don't hear that much anymore" way. It was a "WTF" way.
I think it's terribly ugly.
