I knew a girl who went by 'Mar'. Her full name I think was Marina, but it works for Amara too imo

I have a character called Amara too. She goes by "Mar" sometimes. I wanted something less name-y and more realistic as a shortening of her name based off the dominant sounds.

If you wanted a more name-y nickname you could use Mara, Mari, or Ami.

I need something shorter for her and that's what her big brother calls her and only he calls her that, like a special nickname and it is a personal thing just between the two of them.
