[Opinions] Raisin
What would you think if you met someone who said, "This is my daughter, Raisin"? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

"That's a grape name!."I'd think the parents were on something when they decided on Raisin as a name.

I'd have to try really hard to keep from laughing.

I wonder if it was a nickname for Raisa.

I'd think, if I was being charitable, that it was only a babyish nn that is better kept in the family. If not, I'd think "How dumb."
I don't like raisins anyway. Wrinkled, sticky, sickly-sweet.
Also, one of my aunts referred to nipples as raisins once while complaining about a bathing suit that was not opaque up top, and I have never forgotten it.

I would probably assume that Raisin is something the parent calls the daughter out of affection, like Honey or Sweetie.

I'd wonder whether it is her formal name or another version. Ultimately, however, I love to meet people with unique names. When it is an adult--I love to chat about it with the person. I could not do so if it were a child.

I'd think they were insane, or an alcoholic, or both. Or maybe that they couldn't pronounce Roisin.

I would fight against making current/currant jokes. And jokes about raisin' children.

I’d think I’d misheard, or it was a nickname, or that they spoke a language in which that was a name and didn’t mean raisin.

ha, I was just thinking about Raisin with the Raia "ray-ah" and Raisa threads below.Probably something like I wonder what raisin' Raisin is like or raisin' hell and then mentally roll my eyes at myself.I have an aunt-by-marriage named Kiwi, and I'm used to that. Raisin's extra weird because it's not just fruit, it's shriveled fruit, but at least it shortens to Rai / Ray easily.
