For a boy, not a girl. What do you think? Usable, at this day and age? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Why not? Looking at the charts, it's been relatively common for boys in the US in the last few decades, so it strikes me as solidly unisex; plus it's declining as a girl's name. On the top of my head, Alexis Denisof, Alexis Ohanian are well-known male American Alexis.

I work with a male Alexis. He's French and pronounces it the French way, which I can get behind. I don't like the ah-LEX-us pronunciation on either a girl or boy.

I like it for a boy much more than I do for a girl. While it's stuck in the 70s as a feminine name, I'd say it's definitely usable for boys.

I think it is usable. Most of the Alexis I know are boys. In french it is really common.

I definitely think it's usable for a boy, although most people will initially guess "girl" when they see the name. There are plenty of noteworthy male namesakes. Aesthetically I don't care much for Alexis myself, but I somewhat prefer it on a boy anyway.

Not really unless he is Hispanic, and even then I'd advise going with something else.

For a girl, I think quite usable an alternative to Alexa

I think so. It was never that popular for girls, and it might make a pleasant change from all the Alexes ... but there are so many Alexes and Alexanders etc that I hope it won't get used, or not much anyway.

I like Alexis for a boy, and it's usable in some countries. Probably not in the US these days though.
