It's very twee and the -i ending is undignified.

It reminds me of a rather dim and forgetful maid in the early 20th century.

Heidi's cute. I really liked the name in high school. It's one of those diminutives that was ultimately accepted as its own separate name (like Sally, Anita, or Lisa), so its "nickname" origin doesn't bother me.

Hi !!!!Where I live Heidi is really too tied with the girl in 1880 Spyri's books. Everyone knows it so it is better on a pet because it would be like if someone's name were Cenerentola (Cinderella) or Biancaneve (Snow White). Definetly too tied with it.Currently I much prefer Ada, Adelais and Alise (ah-LEEZ).

It's sweet, but dated and very German. It would be both out of place and a breath of fresh air in a (US) classroom today.

Beautiful and simple - I love it. I also love Holly, and might apt to forget Heidi while considering Holly; or to forget Holly while considering Heidi.

I think it's really cute. Kind of outdoorsy and athletic, but completely feminine.

I don't like it on a human. It's cute for a pet.
