[Opinions] Re: Astrid
I like it. I think it's become more common recently, so my impression of a person who'd name their kid Astrid has gone from "really cool and probably Scandanavian" to "probably still cool, but maybe just an average hipster-adjacent person who likes things like How To Train Your Dragon and viking movies and other pop culture stuff".
Astrid Marguerite isn't bad, but it doesn't quite work for me. I think Marguerite is very warm, like red-orange-yellow-summer-cozy warm, and Astrid is cool and blue-grey-wintery and kind of hard and smooth like a rock. (I always explain names in a way that makes it sound like I have synesthesia but hopefully those things make sense :P) If I saw this combo in the wild I'd still be happy about it though! What about Astride Marguerite? Too rhymey maybe. Or maybe Astrid Margalit, Astrid Margarit, Astrid Margareta, Astrid Margarid, Astrid Margot, Astrid Margaux? (none of those are probably good enough to be contenders if Marguerite is a big favorite, but they could still honor the famiy name)
