[Opinions] Re: Merridy -WIT and a little more
in reply to a message by JMO
I posted about this name a few days ago. Ran across it as Maridee alt spelling Meridy, got intrigued. I like it for a girl - it's just my style, at the moment anyway; although it might be a bit hard to get a husband to agree to it. I still haven't found a meaning. It's probably a respelling (from 19th c or earlier) of the surname Meredith or Merriday. I much prefer the spelling Meridy. Merridy looks especially surnamey to me (although Meridy's a surname too); and also too "merry."Array did some research and found that Meridy has very likely been used far, far more often for boys, as you'd expect for a surname name; as well as Merriday. - chazda
