[Opinions] Ylva
My aunt and her family will soon be owners of four dogs: they already have a Field Spaniel Maisa (pronounced as MIE-sah), an English Springer Spaniel Mette (MEHT-teh) and a Siberian Husky Winka (VING-kah), and tomorrow another Husky named Ylva (UYL-vah) will join them. I think Ylva is a great name for a Husky as it means "she-wolf". I also associate the name with Finnish words "ylväs" and "ylevä" (both meaning "noble, sublime") which isn't a bad thing either.
What do you think of Ylva? And if you had a Siberian Husky, what would you name them?

I like the idea of Ylva for a husky, but it doesn’t sound too great in my accent. Huskies are one of the few dog breeds I’d consider getting, so I have a few names in mind if that did happen someday. I like Pyrrha, and Vaila, but would probably go for Lumi or Eira (as Ay-ruh), which have a better fit. I dunno about a boy husky, I’m not a fan of any of the more obvious ones, except maybe Winter, ooh or maybe Snow/Snowy.
Hi Remora !!!
What is the meaning of Winka? I love its sound. Mette and Maisa are nms.
Ylva is nice on paper but it reminds me of Ilva,an Italian steelworks company. It is a very bad link imo.
I love Siberian Huskies!
I would use Scandinavian names or wordy names linked with winter.
Pyry
Lumi
Synnøve
Smilla
Siri

Tormenta ("blizzard")
Thor

Spettro ("phantom")

Winka is derived from "vinka", a rare Finnish word meaning "cold wind". There are also other meanings to it, see here: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vinka
Not a fan of Ylva, mainly because I don't like the look of it and that it's dated. It's fine for a good though.
I would (and have) name a pet human names that I like, but might not use for a child. So far I have Elliot, Hermione "Mio" and Penny. I'd name a female husky something like Indra or Cleo.
