It would be a cute nickname, but it feels a bit immature to be a given name. I think Marjorie would be a great way to use it, but still give them a "resume name" to fall back on (and avoid some of the stigmas around "made-up" names).

To be honest, I prefer the Jory spelling as a stand-alone as it looks less nickname-y. I can’t say I’m fond of Marjorie, so that’s a bias, but if *you* don’t truly love it, I wouldn’t suggest giving it just to avoid giving “only a nickname”. If you love it, then I’d say go for it and use the nickname as desired. For me, the nickname could also work for Jordana, Jordan or variants, Jorja, Jordis, but I also think it’s fine on its own.

It makes me think of Catherine’s son from the Flowers in the Attic series. I thought it was a stupid name at the time since she made it up to honour her husband Julian and her brother Cory. But as a nn for Marjorie I guess it’s okay.

It's been on my faves list forever but I never think about it. I had a friend named Jory growing up (her full name was Marjorie but nobody ever called her that). I don't know how much I really like it, because I can only picture her... I'd never consider using it because it reminds me too much of her. But I liked it as her name.

I guess I think it sounds sort of childish, but not in an unappealing way - it's not "cute," it's just simplified.

I like Jory as a full name for a boy or as a nickname for Jorian or George.

I don't love the name Jorie. I'd prefer it as a nickname for Marjorie, though, if you're using it.

Jory sounds masculine to me. The first thing I thought of was Dickon from the Frances Hodgson Burnett book. Jory sounds like he could be his younger brother.

I'm partial to the sound, but there's a lot of potential for people to mishear it (which is my pet peeve about my own NN, Tory - I've been called Cori, Lori, and Troy a lot)...

As a full name, I'd prefer Jory to Jorie. I think I'd prefer Marjorie without a NN, but as I said, I do like the sound of Jory, and Jorie works okay as a NN for it Marjorie.

I know a Jori (boy, full name). Jorie is okay. It definitely works for Marjorie, although I'd prefer Marie or something.
