I love it on paper, with the O pronounced as an actual O. In real life it often turns into a schwa which I don't like at all.
I don't think it's boring. I like all 3-- Eleanor, Leonor, and Elinor (and also Elanor, Lenore, Lenora, Leonora, etc). I think Eleanor and Leonor have a similar elegant vibe, but Leonor is a bit more magical and less likely to sound potentially dated. Elinor (and Elanor) are very similar but they look just a little bit more youthful.
