Both are attractive names that are trendy for different generations (Lauren for Millennials, Ava for Gen Z). I would honestly consider using Lauren, since it matches my taste (has a prominent L, ends with an "n" sound, etc.), if not for the fact that I have known so many growing up. It's going to become a total "Mom name."
Ava is a returning classic, both short and a palindrome. Impossible to misspell. Even if it is ubiquitous for Gen Z it still retains some punchy charm. So while Lauren might suit me more personally, I believe Ava has better overall appeal.

Er ... Eva, and especially Eve, rather than Ava and Laura much, much rather than Lauren. So, Ava vs Lauren would = neither, and Eve vs Laura would be Laura, hands down.
This is partly just the sound and the look, but also I think Ava is busty, big-haired Old Hollywood and Lauren is dated now and was always insipid.

I remember a time when I liked Ava, but lately it's seemed kind of lacklustre and empty to me, despite knowing a spunky 8 year old Ava.
So, Lauren. It's my best friend's name, I was almost named Loren after a relative, my mom's official name is Loretta, I have an aunt Laurie, mountain laurel's one of my favorite flowers, and I've been liking Laurence as a guys' name recently. If I don't hate it because of overuse yet, then I doubt I ever will, so it's a safe choice.
Also, I guess Ava sounds like it's meant to be more jaunty while Lauren is more sedate, and right now I prefer sedate.

Definitely Lauren. Never liked Ava, for some reason it makes me think of old-lady scented powder. Lauren feels more sophisticated and youthful but not faddish.
