Lana, for sure. Hedy just sounds like heady. Lana also feels more current.

Lana (LAN-ə, not LAHN-ə). It sounds very glossy, if that makes sense. Hedy is more "German peasant girl" to me.

They both sound ugly and nicknamey to me, but I'll go with Hedy because that one sounds unapologetically ugly. Something about Lana seems forced or artificial to me.With Svetlana vs Hedwig, I think Svetlana is prettier, but I'm fonder of Hedwig. Alana vs Hedwig would maybe be a tie.

Lana because I have to guess how to prn Hedy. But I like the look and sound of Lana too.

OK, I'm curious as to what you are reading.I knew a Lana, I wasn't really a fan of her. Hedy is an amazing role model - we have a few books about Hedy Lamarr at the house. I wouldn't use either of them, but if I had to choose I'd go with Hedy.
