All of these people have immigrant parents, though, so I don't think they were aware of cultural perceptions of these names.
People without immigrant parents:
Ian and Giselle (Giselle is not a common name where I come from)
Aidan and Trevor, because Aidan is so much more common--although, Trevor's father is an immigrant but from England, so perhaps it is a cultural difference there also
Mairead and Christopher
Shira and Jacob --they're both Jewish names but one is so much more Jewish
