Montgomery sounds much more masculine to me. Not everyone minds, and that's perfectly valid, but I tend to be wary of unisex names. They always seem to end up becoming just girls' names (Ashley, Shirley, Lindsay, Kelly, I could go on forever). It's more formal, too, which I also like.

I like both, but vote for Cary! I think I would spell it Carey, though.

Montgomery. Spelt that way, Cary is another name for tooth cavity.

Montgomery for sure! It’s so handsome. I adore it. I wanted to use it for one of our twin boys, but my husband hated it. I think Monte is such a nice and sweet nickname.
Cary is so ugly, but especially for a boy. I know too many ladies named Cari/Carrie/Carry.

Cary. Montgomery is a nice surname, but horribly pretentious as a given name.

Montgomery, because it's at least fun to say. If people think it's tediously long, NN could be Murray / Mery.Cary mainly comes across as whiny to me, similar to how Wesley or Tyler would. I'd like it slightly more if it were a NN for Caradoc.

As a first name you mean? I would have to go with Montgomery. It may sound pretenious and stuffy but at least it has nn options, unlike Cary which also has a masculine look but sounds really feminine.
Another reason is that Montgomery has some meaning to me. For many years, my aunt used to live on a street named it so the name also reminds me of that, one of the places I grew up with and would often vist. It also may have been the inspiration for one of my leading characters which I abtly named Lucas Montgomery. :D ♥♥♥♥♥

Cary, because Montgomery is just a mouthful.

Cary, though I think I'd spell it Carey. Montgomery is just too pompous.
