[Opinions] Hildegard
Hildegard von Bingen is my favourite saint, and I think Hildegard make a strong and rich name, which makes me think of castles and mahogany. I would consider paring it with a more common name, like Mary Hildegard or Anna Hildegard. What are your thoughts on Hildegard and what first / middle names would you pair with it?

I can’t say I like it enough, sound-wise, to fully appreciate it as a first name, but I don’t mind it in the middle slot and do enjoy its strength and touch of sunniness. First thing to come to mind was True Hildegard, which I like the feel of, but I’m mainly wanting something softer. Maybe...Bess Hildegard
Faye Hildegard
Iris Hildegard
June Hildegard or Junia Hildegard
Lenore Hildegard

I like Hildegard a lot. I think -gard is a strong, stately element to a name. It is a very strong flavor, though, and your instinct on a plain name with it is good. Anna Hildegard is a really nice combo. Anna is a very light, almost transparent name, and I think that combo is great. Mary has too much flavor for me with it.There aren't many names as light as Anna. Maybe Jane Hildegard? There are a few short names that are still flavor-rich whose flavor is complimentary.
I think...
Eva Hildegard
Ylva Hildegard
Vera Hildegard
Freya HildegardNames with Vs apparently.

Freya Hildegard is lovely, thank you! I really like the combination of the youthful, fey Freya with the heavy and mature Hildegard.

I love Hildegard, but I don’t have the guts to use it. I would totally use it for a character.

I like it better than Hilda, for sure! Wouldn't use it myself, because in English I think it has a very strong religious vibe: Mary Hildegard especially suggests a nun. Which might well be what you want; if not, then I think a less common name would work better.Frances Hildegard, or Hildegard Frances
Elinor Hildegard, or Hildegard Elinor
Suzanne
Antonia
Ruth
Gillian
Annabel
Amy
Deborah, for a vintage vibe (fn only; Hildegard Deborah is uncomfortable)
Olivia, to bring it right up to date

I'm not particularly going for a nun vibe, but then again, I'm not planning to have children, at least not for a long time! I like Frances Hildegard a lot :)

I often listen to her music, especially her play, “Ordo Virtutum” recorded by Sequentia. Very tranquil. I like Hildegard Mary or Hildegard Rose.

I like Hildegard. As a FN I'd use with the nn Hilde though (which I really like). Mary or Anna sort of blandifies Hildegard. I'd pair it with something with hyst a little more attitude than those. Maybe instead of Mary and Anna something like Rosemary Hildegard and Johanna Hildegard or even Marianna Hildegard.

I wrote this post yesterday, and upon giving it some further thought, I agree Hildegard would go better with something more interesting than Mary or Anna. Rosemary Hildegard is magnificent, and Marianna Hildegard is very nice too, a name I'd definitely use for a nun character!

I love Mary Hildegard!! Mary combo names are great. As a first name by itself it's too much.
