[Opinions] Aster and Calanthe
What do you think of Aster and Calanthe? What about with middle name Mary?
What other flower/floral names do you like?

Calanthe Mary is nice.
Aster Mary is less appealing. I get hung up on the "as-" sound, too.
My favorite floral names are Iris and Rose. I guess neither of them work fabulously well with Mary as a middle. If I were using Mary as a middle, I'd probably go with Violet, Azalea, or Zinnia.
One of my favorite combos is Rose Marina.

Love Calanthe (although I prefer Calanthia), dislike Aster. Aster is so harsh, and makes me think of words such as "castigate" and "mastigate", which have the same "ast" sound in them.
I guess I'm not that into flower names, because the only other ones I like are Rose, Jasmine, and Jacinda. Oh, and Bryony. Never mind. I guess I'm averagely into them.
Mary goes with almost anything as a middle name.

Calanthe is the name of a queen on the Netflix show The Witcher who is more at home on the battlefield than in a ballroom, so right now when I hear that name I picture a total bada$$. Callie is also a cute nickname.
Can't say I'm a fan of Aster, though. It appears (to me) like some bizarre misspelling of Astor (which I'm familiar with as a surname) and Esther. I much prefer Arista, if we're keeping the "star" theme of the name.
As far as floral names I like...
Iris
Verveine / Verbena
Juniper
Willow
Yasmine / Jasmine
Zinnia
Viola / Violet
Lilia / Lily
Hazel
Rose / Rosalie
Genista
Marguerite (though I'm not a fan of Daisy)
Saffron (but not Crocus!)
Sigalit
Henna
Zaynab
Amaryllis
Elanor (it's a flower name in Lord of the Rings)
Nasrin
Neroli
Flor
A few of those names are flowering shrubs and trees.

I don't like the sound of them much, but I like Aster better than Aspen, probably because it's more like Astrid. I think that one could grow on me.

I want to like Aster, but I just can't get past the "ass" sound. Calanthe is lovely but I don't care for the repeated -ee endings in Calanthe Mary.
Some of my favorite floral/botanical names:
Dahlia
Linnea
Rose, Rosalie
Rosemary
Lily, Lilia, Lillian, Liliana
Violet
Jasmine, Jessamine
And ones I like as middle names only:
Camellia
Lilac
Lavender
Azalea
Zinnia
Marigold

I had to look up Calanthe flowers! Very pretty too. I can see a Calanthe among the Phoebe’s and Emma’s in a class etc. Like the flowers I think the name is pretty and lyrical
Aster I’m not keen on. I think Astraea is more attractive both in spelling as pronunciation.
