[Opinions] Cat

If it’s a nickname, then sure. I actually like it better than Kate.

I don't like it much. There's something about the abruptness that puts me off. I don't even think of the animal. It's more just the sound and the brevity.
There's a journalist on BBC World television news called Katty Kay: her birth name was Katharine Kay but professionally and presumably also socially she's known as Katty. Which I find decidedly feline, but she carries it off pretty well.
Is it that much worse than Kitty? Perhaps a grown-up version? I like Kitty a lot as a nn for Katharine, and if I'd listened to DH and named a daughter Katharine (except it would have been Catherine if I'd really listened to him), I'd have done my best to have Kitty as her nn rather than Kate, Katie and the previously fashionable Kathy; not to mention Caitlin etc.

I don't care for it and I'm a cat person. I prefer other nicknames for Catherine/Katherine/Kathryn etc. Ones that sound more "name-like"

I don't like cats.
But it's kinda okay as a nickname.

As a nickname, I like it a lot.
