[Opinions] Re: Matilda
in reply to a message by Lapin
Matilda has really grown on me and is now among my top 10 favorite girl names. It has an interesting mixture of medieval history and modern fantasy. The meaning "battle strong" makes me think of a warrior queen, but there is also something very down to earth about it. I picture a Matilda loving to garden and being adept at naming the uses of plants.
My top associations are: 1) Empress Matilda or Empress Maud (1102–1167), Queen of Germany, daughter of Henry I of England, mother of Henry II of England. 2) Matilda from Roald Dahl's book of the same name, which was made into a movie in 1996.
Matilda Vera
Matilda Alice
Matilda Violet
Matilda Jeanine
Matilda Briony
Matilda Sage
Matilda Grace
Matilda Charlotte
Matilda Eleanor
Matilda Suzanne
