I like it, but I don't love it. It is a little dated, but I don't hold that against a name, generally. It's a positive, bright name, if a bit insubstantial.

It had a fair run of popularity here in the 1970s. Not bad, but nothing to get excited about.

I like it a lot, thought it is beginning to sound a little dated in the same way that Amber and Britney sound a little dated to me.

It’s one name I absolutely cannot get past my name association with, unfortunately.
All I can picture is a very rude, loud mouthed and bad attitude-d woman that never knows when to shut her mouth... because, obviously, that’s the Melanie I knew for years and years.

I think Melanie is a very pretty name. It suits most any age or ethnicity and it's very familiar but not a placeholder feeling name.

A bit boring, but inoffensive. It makes me think of honey.
