A woman I went to high school with recently had her first child, a boy. She named him Maverick Jameson.Thoughts? Personally, I don't like the name Maverick at all. At least he can go by Rick or Ricky if he wants. Jameson is okay, but I prefer James.

I agree with you about Maverick, it sounds like the name of a 5 year old cowboy. I'm not fond of Jameson either, especially since I don't understand the pronunciation - I'd pronounce it JAYM-son.

Yeah, I don't like Maverick at all, either. Something like Merrick James would've been so much better!

I think of the 90s Mel Gibson movie when I hear Maverick, and I have a hard forgetting that Jameson is whiskey. They're both apparently common for American kids these days, though. He'll fit in with his generation. There are names I get a similar vibe from, that I'd've picked instead: Emeric, Merrick, Malcolm, Griffin, Prosper, Sterling ...with MN James.
