Yep, I would use it for a son. Probably call him Marc. WITH A CEE - poor kid.
There's no particular image or personality (except that it's very masculine and Mars-y) - it's just classicky, an empire name.
It's pleasingly racially empty, too - at least, when applied to an American. I dunno about in other places.
