Thanks everyone!Sounds like everyone loves the name! The nicknames are only occasionally.

I've always loved Penelope and would use it happily. In fact, when our second daughter was born she had long, bright red hair and looked spectacular. We'd decided on her name, but I said "Shouldn't we call her Penelope instead, after your cousin?" because of the hair! I was instantly reminded that Cousin Penny wasn't DH's favourite relative, by a long shot, so our original choice stood.I like Penny and Nell as nns; Nellie doesn't appeal and Poppy is appalling.

It was always the name my grandmother used to use when we played 'school' and she was my 'student' so it has some sentimental meaning for me. I really like it. I prefer Penelope on its own, but Penny is a cute nickname.

I love Penelope and every nickname for it except Poppy. Poppy is what some people call their grandfather, so it’s a little weird for me. Other than that, two thumbs up!

Poppy is a popular girls name where I live so it's a little weird for me to hear you call your grandfather Poppy xD

I like the nn Penny and the name Penny by itself, but I really don't like Penelope. It reminds me of a snobby rude 6 yr old with a pig nose.

I love it! She's sweet and bubbly with blond hair and blue eyes, aged around four or five - although I can picture it on someone older, too! The nickname I like isn't listed, though - Ella.

It's adorable! I do prefer Penelope by its own without any nicknames.

Love Penny I do like Penelope but I think Vanellope sounds more interesting (though it lacks the cute nickname)
