[Opinions] My Brother's BA
My brother and his wife told my family and I that they were pregnant back in November. Today they told us that his name will be Angelo Jorden. My prediction for his name was Asher Kayden (his mom's middle name is Kay), so I was way off.Our styles are quite different, but I like how it honors his mom (my sister-in-law), Angelica. I was expecting this however, because their daughter's name, Caliana Malikah, honors my brother, Malik.Any opinions on his name or the sibset as a whole? If you were honoring yourself and your partner (or Angelica and Malik, if you want) in your son and daughter's names, how would you do it?"I have nothing to prove to you." - Carol Danvers

I think Angelo Jorden is very handsome; it makes me picture a celebrity or basketball player. I just prefer the spelling Jordan. I always thought it’d be cute to name a son Jasper and give him the nn Jazz, which is my nn too. For a girl, I’d also consider Mina, my other nn (lol).

Caliana and Angelo - it's cute. I like how the son's name honors the mom and the daughter's name honors the dad.My daughter's name does honor me, we share a middle name. My husband is Alexander Sean, it's likely that we would use either as a middle name.

Angelo Jorden is a really handsome name and the honoring is great. Angelo isn't my style, but it's nice that it isn't super trendy and it pairs nicely with Jorden. How is Caliana pronounced? If I were named Angelica and I was going to honor by using a related name for a child I may have gone with Angelina for a dqughter's middle name. For Malik, I am not sure. Malikah isn't my style, but I do like the idea of using related names instead of just having a junior.
In our case:We have considered using Sander for a boy, because it is one letter off from one of my middle names (an unusual surname that doesn't make a good name in it's own right) and we will for sure use George as a middle name this time sort of to honor my husband (it is his confirmation name). His name is Joel and I used to put forward Joelle and Jolie as a girl name options, but he didn't like them. My name is Anna and we discussed Annika and Nancy at various points in time, but not with honoring intent.

Yeah, their names are not my style either. Caliana is pronounced kal-ee-AHN-ə (in our case) and I think it is a bit of a mash of the cute nickname "Callie" and the popular ending -ian(n)a. Also, using Confirmation names for honoring is smart! When I made my confirmation I picked Veronica, which I am not a fan of any longer. (My technical full name is Zhara Adelina Veronica, which is a lot of -a endings!)
