[Opinions] Lillian/Lilly
What do you think of the name Lillian St.Clair (a family name) and calling the little girl Lilly? Do you think is is a name that is too trendy? Will it last her a lifetime?

I prefer Liliana to Lillian/Lilian, but Lily is very pretty for a nickname. imo, St. Clair is a little...hefty for a middle name. Lilian Claire would be pretty, though.

I like the name Lillian nn Lilly. St. Clair..not so much. But since it is a family name that makes it better. I The flow is really nice though.I think that right now it's trendy...but Lilly is sort of an old name..as in my grandparents and great-grandparents time kind of name.

I think Lillian St. Clair is fantastic! I do agree with the suggestion to spell her nn Lillie, though. It's more unusual, so she'll stand out from the other Lilys her age.

I think Lillian St. Clair nn Lilly sounds wonderful. I love Lily/Lilly and Lillian. And even though Lily is getting a little more popular, I don't find it "trendy" at all. It's a classic, old-fashioned name that will stand the test of time. :)

I think the name sounds very posh. Lillian nickname Lilly is darling. For Lillian, I actually prefer Lilly or Lillie rather than Lily as the nickname because to me, the spelling Lily is a name independent of Lillian. I know, very anal, lol. I don't think it's trendy, maybe a bit popular, though, but throughout her lifetime, I imagine Lillian will fade in and out of popularity. i wouldn't be overly concerned about it.Great choice for a name! :)

Lillian St. Clair is lovely! I find it very distinguished. (sp?) I prefer the spelling Lily, but if she found that to be too nicknamey when she aged, she could always go by Lillian. Lovely!

I really like the name Lillian with the nn Lily (one l only since its the name of the flower) or Lillie since its different enough that it doesn't look mispelled IMHO. I think its a classical sounding name, thats revitalized but not trendy and will last her a lifetime. As of now, its our favourite girls' name, but we will most likely be sticking to just Lily since I don't feel it really needs a more elaborated first name. If we ever decided to go with a longer first name, we would pick Lillian though.

Lillian St Clair sounds wonderful. I prefer it spelt Lilian but actually, in this combo, the two L's look good. Like Array I prefer the spelling Lillie for her nickname. It seems more original - there are waaaay too many Lily's running around nowadays, and Lilly is too close to that._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

I think Lillian St. Clair flows really nicely, and if St. Clair is a family name, so much the better. I personally much prefer Lillie to Lilly; in my mind, Lillie's got literature (or at least Shug Avery) behind it, whereas Lilly has...The Princess Diaries. Eeeyeah.I really wish Lillie (in any spelling) wasn't so popular, but as a nickname, the popularity shouldn't matter so much.Array

I adore the name Lilly. I just think it's so pretty. Trendy? Maybe. But not trendy in a way that makes it not priceless.
