[Opinions] Astor
WDYT of Astor? Boy, or girl? **Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

It mainly strikes me as a famous-rich-family-namedrop sort of name, since it's never been notably used as a first name.
As such, it's sexless.
I also balk when names begin with the emphasized sound ASS.
I wouldn't like it for either sex.
If it didn't seem pretentious, I'd probably favor it for a girl. Because the Ast-part might remind me of Astrid, and the end might remind me of Eleanor. But it seems like it'd work for a boy too, since it resembles names like Castor and Nestor.

I love Astor for a boy, mainly because of Astor Piazolla :)I don't like it on a girl.

I like it, it sounds like the name of an old sage. It's definitely masculine.

It’s one of the more forgivable surnames as first names, but I stay far away from names that start with that syllable, myself.

I quite like it. I don't consider this to be remotely feminine, so I'm surprised at the question.

It makes me think of the movie Annie, but I don't remember that movie enough to know if that actually makes sense or if I'm making it up...if I'm making it up, I guess it vaguely reminds me of the 1920s-1930s and/or New York. I also think of asters and Alastor.Aster was mentioned here a while ago, and I started out thinking it was weird/ugly, then talked myself into doing a 180 somehow, the more I considered it.Aster for a girl is kind of neat. Astor for a boy is kind of neat. Either one could be unisex, but I'd divide them that way.In comparison, I hate Aspen and like Astrid; I'd like Astoria if it didn't primarily make me think of hotels.

Astor Chocolates is one of our big suppliers (I'm in procurement), so I don't associate it as a name at all. But if I had to, it definitely sounds masculine.

I like Aster for a girl. I think Astor is good for a boy.

It’s alright, though I wouldn’t use it myself. I’d be happy to meet a little boy with the name though. I don’t like it for a girl. Aster is nice for a girl though.
