[Opinions] Hollis
WDYT of Hollis?
**Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

I kinda like it. Probably a little more for a girl, but could be a spiffy guy name too.
It doesn't seem surnamey to me. I've never seen it as a surname at all. And because of the shape of it - like Holly, and with the -is ending. It's first-namey.

Whenever I see Hollis, I envisage a slender, studious sort of person, in glasses and knitwear, drinking a cup of coffee. I don’t normally have such vivid pictures of names so I wonder if it’s a pop culture reference I’ve forgotten.
I like it, though, it’s neat and unassuming, and totally gender neutral.

I really like Hollis but only for a boy.
My partner on the other hand thinks the o-sound is really unappealing.
Almost sort of like it for a girl, not at all for a boy.
I don't know why, but names that end in the -is or -us sound gross me out. I probably wouldn't like Hollis anyway. With a few exceptions, I don't like last name first names. I do wonder if I'd have such a strong aversion to them if I wasn't a member of this incredibly anti-last name board.
I think it's one of the few neutral names that I actually like equally well on either sex. I like it. It's like the more sophisticated version of the name Holly
One of these sleek, "preppy" surname names that aren't my style, but I don't mind them.
