I think it sounds nice. Seems unusual but unremarkable.
I'm not really sure what type of names would seem similar to Vila, to you. The sound reminds me of Milla, Nila, Aquila (uh-kee-luh), and Viola.
I'd also maybe put it in a group with these names Nova, Maya, Selah, Vera, Riva, Vesna, Nina, Alta, Veerle, Sylva, Pia.
I didn't think of 'vile'. My main English word association was 'villa'.
