[Opinions] Hallelujah
I'm not planning to use it. (Glory in the "Best American Baby Names" thread made me think of it)
I like the sound, though, and saw that it's in the submitted section

How would you react to hearing it IRL or having to use it on a regular basis for someone?
Does anyone know anything about its history of use?
Do you think it's better or worse than... Hosanna? Genesis? Miracle?

There is a YouTuber with a daughter named Hallelujah-Rose. She is often called Hallie as a nickname. I do think it's ridiculous, but at least it comes with a wearable nickname.
I find many of those uber-religious names to be cringe-inducing, like someone trying way too hard to find a biblical name. It reminds me of Gwyneth Paltrow explaining how she chose Apple because it's biblical. Sure, and so are Flock and Air, but I don't consider those to be names.

Whoa, I hadn't thought of it as part of a double name. Or heard that Gwyneth Paltrow picked Apple because it's biblical!?! lol
Dorothy L Sayers used it as the given name for one of her characters in a Lord Peter Wimsey novel: can't recall the ln, but Hallelujah was, appropriately enough, a church minister from the Caribbean.
As a name to use when speaking to its owner, it seems inconveniently long. It could I suppose shorten to Hally. Or Lu.

If you ever read "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou, she talks about her first job working as a maid. The family's cook was named Glory; she told Maya that her actual name was Hallelujah, but the white woman she was working for had changed it to Glory, but that she didn't mind. Maya, in spite of being resentful that the same white woman had changed her name from Marguerite to Mary just because, secretly agreed that Hallelujah was a stupid name.
So, yeah. It's a dumb name, like Whoopee or Hurray.
Hosanna at least sounds like an actual name with the Anna element. Those I'm not fond at all of the hose sound. Genesis reminds me of Phil Collins songs, and also there's a couple of assisted-living/nursing/rehab centers near here called Genesis. Miracle sounds like trying too hard. Like adopting a stray dog and naming it Lucky and thinking you're the first person who ever thought up something so meaningful.

That's interesting. I read the book for school a long time ago, but I don't remember much from it.
