[Opinions] Is the name "Jacques" too old-fashioned for a French character?
I really like the name Jacques, but I've noticed that it's incredibly unpopular nowadays in France, and I was planning on using it for a French character (age 15-18). Can somebody French please tell me if they think it sounds too old fashioned?Salut! Je voudrais utiliser c'est nom pour un caractère français (âge 15-18) et je crains que ce soit trop démodé. Quelqu'un français peut-il confirmer ici? Merci!

I’m not French but I spent several years in another Francophone country. It’s true Jacques isn’t very common for generation X and younger, it also feels very stereotypical, what a French guy in a language textbook would be named.

It’s a bit too old-fashioned, yes, but Jules is a good alternative.

(I’m not French, I overlooked the “somebody French” part.)
