[Opinions] Bestie BA
One of my oldest and dearest friends just had a baby girl! She’s of course adorable but I’m not sure how to feel about her name....Renny Joy
I don’t *hate* it. But I don’t much like it (as a full name) either. It also feels like a very unexpected choice from this friend.

Not a fan of it at all. Joy is nice but Renny is unfortunate for a girl in my opinion.

Definitely not the worst name out there, and it flows well. I would have loved Renata Joy "Renny".

I love Joy. And if I suffered from indigestion, no doubt I'd love Rennies ...I know a Rentia (RENsha),which is her full name (I think she's Rentia Elizabeth; not sure) but mostly a short form of Emmarentia. Perhaps it's just because I'm used to it, but I like it a lot and I don't feel the same about Renny, to say the least. Maybe putting a W in front might improve it? Wrenny? No; maybe not!

I just saw a BA for a girl named Romee. I don’t get the -ee/ie names.

Romy is one of my favorite names! I hate the juvenile look of “ee” endings though

I feel like Renny is supposed to be short for something else. It’s like Jenny with an R. Meh... Maybe there is a story behind it that would make me rethink it.

Rennifer :)

That’s how I feel and am also interested to get the scoop once they settle in.

I grew up with a family friend's kid who was a few years older than me, who was named Rennie. Her sisters both had super common names along the lines of Anna and Jessica and there was a *reason* her father always wanted a daughter named Rennie but I have no recollection of what that reason was.Because of her, I kind of like it. I'd love to know the reasoning behind your friend's choice! Renny is not to my tastes but I think there are way way way worse unusual or more "made up" names out there.

I don’t mind it. My dogs name is Remy so I obviously like the sound! And I’ve defiantly seen worse. It’s a quirky but not unlikeable choice that just surprised me!

Renny? It must be a family name I would think.

Could be on his side. She has quite a few off beat/uncommon but familiar names, on her side I thought she may repurpose. Its not exactly the total opposite of what I’d expect from her but both names certainly surprised me.

Another thing that's weird about it is I can't think of many names it would be a nickname for. Like, with Lauren, you'd probably not emphasize the "Ren" part. So it doesn't seem like a meaty part of a name to riff off of and turn into a spunky little nickname. It's like undercooked toast: not toast, not bread, not really workable. I think this perspective would change if I knew a Renny.I like Joy, and think it goes well.

Yeah I mean I get it as a nickname. I’ve entertained Kathryn “Ryn” myself and I know that’s odd but I’d never use Ryn on its own. I think I just expected her to pick something sort of classic and popular but not super trendy, like Phoebe or Scarlet (or Wren) or something so the nicknamey feel of Renny threw me for a loop. I definitely don’t hate it (see Kathryn “Ryn”) I’m just having a hard time wrapping my head around it.
