[Opinions] Asher
What do you think of Asher? Is it too common/fast rising now? Is it still strongly associated with Judaism/Christianity/the Old Testament?

I like it. It's actually rare to me because I don't know anyone with the name.

It is associated, or I associate it, with the Old Testament stories about the sons of Jacob. But I associate it also with helping my MIL clean the family's ashtrays after a long day and night of socialising. As far as I know, it isn't particularly popular where I live. Which pleases me.

It reminds me of Liam, because I started liking Asher circa 2000, which is basically the only time I liked Liam. I still like Asher, though. It's an old name with a modern sound and a nice meaning. I like saying it.It's definitely popular in the US and still rising fast on the charts. It could reach Noah's level of popular, but I'm a little doubtful it actually will.I'm not sure how many people know it's biblical or place significance on that.

I like it somewhat, but it looks too much like a mix of “ash” and “usher”.

I’ve loved it ever since I read the Giver as a kid. It’s become too popular for me personally, but I still like seeing it on other kids. I think it got swept up in the surname trend because of the -er ending, but its history and legitimacy as a first name far exceed them.
