[Opinions] Marie or Maria
What do you think off these simple, yet elegant names? They've been relegated to the status of MN for so long name, but what about FNs?What combos can you make?My favourites would have to be: Maria Lucia & Marie AntoniaSlytherin will help you on your way to greatness!!!

I choose Marie. I feel like Maria is way too common, and Marie has a different feel.Marie Aurelia
Marie Jeannette (classic)
Marie Annabel
Marie Hemera
Marie Giselle

Out of curiosity, do you pronounce Maria and María differently? I pronounce them the same.

I love both. Marie is dull as a MN, but I think it's lovely as a first name. I like Maria for either the first or middle spot. 'Marie Celeste and Bernadette Maria

Lots of European queens and princesses have had Maria and Marie as a first name. I know it would be associated with Mary, and thus the Virgin Mary, but were they all required by law to have Marie/Maria in their names? Like, couldn't someone have been a Princess Lucinda or a Queen Samantha?I kinda like Marie more. It's my mom's middle name. Marie Josephine would sound lovely.

Lot's of European monarchies were Christian established and what greater honour is there for a Christian family than to have a daughter, or several, named after the mother of Jesus Christ?
It's a just like Muslim families having at least one Mohammed.

I would always use Maria. Maria could be Marie if she liked, but Marie has no options.

I think they're both better as first names. As FNs, they're very wearable; as MNs, they look like filler.I'd prefer to be named Maria, of those two, so... Maria Saturnina, Maria Candela, Maria Wilhelmina. I like your Maria combos, too.And I randomly fell in love with the combo Marie Yolande a long time ago, so that.
Or, Marie Meliora, Marie Nightingale, Marie Laurence, Marie Melisande, Marie Corisande, Marie Fernande would be okay.

MariaI prefer Maria. Marie sounds like a bossy old church lady to me. Maria is very pretty when I think about it. I never give the name much thought, honestly, because I like plain old Mary best. Maria Madeleine
Maria Blythe
Maria Winifred
Maria Josephine

MarieI really like Marie for a first name. It was first name status for so long. Interestingly... in the early 1900s, over 20% of females in France were given that first name, not including all the Marie-X blends! I can't speak for what % were given prior to then, bc the BTN data only goes back to 1900.

I like them with a preference on Marie; a name that's so incredibly versatile it goes with pretty much anything as a middle nameAs a first name, however, I'm unsure Marie Alexandra is the first name that comes to mind that works well, any others I can think of... not so much
