[Opinions] Bear
I notice that Bear is a semi-popular celebrity baby name. Kate Winslet has a son named Bear Blaze, and Alicia Silverstone has one named Bear Blu. Jamie Oliver has a son named Buddy Bear. So, what do you think of Bear? Is it ridiculous? Cute? Both? If you had to use it, what would you use as a middle name?
**Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

I've only seen it on Bear Grylls and IRL as a nickname for Amber. I mostly like it as a nickname or middle name.
Bear is ridiculous, yes, and I can only see it as a nickname for a beefy guy. Even then, I don’t like it. All of these combos are just dumb: Bear Blaze? Bear Blu?Buddy Bear? Were they born in a Build-A-Bear store?
Why not use a name that means “bear”, like Ursus or Dov or Orson? Heck, even Ber would be better.

Good for a pet. Dov is an interesting alternative.
I find it ridiculous. It doesn't grow up well, and while it might suit someone like Bear Grylls, it's hilariously incongruous on, say, a lawyer, a bus driver, or a teacher. I'd pair it with Aloysius.
I think it is way beyond ridiculous and I wouldn't use it in my right mind. The only way I'd ever have a son called Bear would be if I were six feet tall and furry and communicated in grunts and barks, and then no mn would be necessary.
Don't forget Bear Grylls, the macho man of TV exploration! I can't watch him - inflated ego fatigue sets in after three seconds.

Agree
Ridiculous
It’s an animal name that I actually don’t mind as a name for a human. I’d prefer it as a mn though, because it seems like it would be very juvenile on a grown man.
Every one of these names is utterly ridiculous. Not a single name in any of the combos should be given to a real child, and certainly not combined with each other. These are not person names.
Agreed
I can't beat around the bush here. These names are ridiculous. Bear is a stupid name for a child, and it's so self indulgent to name a baby something like bear because it seems cute for your little baby, knowing that he won't be baby for ever. It's selfish. It's also an attempt by Hollywood people to keep up with the Jones in terms of weird names. The more famous you are, the weirder your kids names should be. Sometimes I wonder if less famous people name their kids ridiculously as a sad sort of attempt to attract attention and a higher status.
I hope this makes sense. I'm all kinds of sleepy on Benadryl.

It's ridiculous. And those combos are ridiciulous, especially Buddy Bear. They just sound like Beanie babies.
Bear is a nn for a big beefy guy. It's also slang (as in classified-ad code) for a big, hairy guy, for people that have a fetish about that.
