What do you think of Aisling (ASH-lyen)? Do you prefer Aislin, Aislinn or Aisling?

It's very pretty and fairy-esque. Aislin is my favourite spelling.

Aisling is gorgeous, followed by Aislinn and Aislin. Aislinn is cool, Aislin sounds like a medication and incomplete.

I like Aisling. It sounds modern without being too trendy, and has a nice meaning. I prefer Aisling, but Aislin isn’t bad.

The Aisling I knew pronounced her name as ASH-leen. As I didn’t like her and neither names ending in the “leen” sound I really don’t like the name. I do like the ash part of the name.

I think it's a shame that Ashley was so popular in the US for so long, because Aisling really is a beautiful name. At least for me, though, it's tarnished by its similarity to the ultra-trendy, dated Ashley.

I prefer Ashlyn

I have a friend with this name but she pronounces it Ash-ling with the g. I think it's pretty either way!

I find Ash a most discouraging way to start a name, regardless of whether it's Ais- or Ash, and no matter what comes after it. I look at all those names, and smell old ashtrays.
