Because of quarantine, I’ve had nothing better to do lately than to just browse Youtube. I came across a Freaky Eaters video on a “French Fry Addict” (no, I don’t usually watch Freaky Eaters) whose daughter unfortunately had the same eating preferences. The addict was named Amber and her daughter was McCartney.

What do you guys think of these names? To me, McCartney looks uber-tyndee and artificial, while Amber is alright but not really my type.

Amber is ok, I prefer Ember.

McCartney is fine (it’s not artificial). Another surname-as-first-name name which is (still?) on trend. At least it’s more interesting and fresher than Mackenzie and Maddison.

Amber's nice I like that name.

I don't mind McCartney or any similar surnames to Macauley because one of my childhood best friends / grandma's neighbours was called Macauley and because I knew him from a very young age, it's a name that I don't initially associate with being a surname. I have fond memories of eating square-packet cheese on the trampoline, drinking pop from the kiddie bench, simply walking into his backgarden uninvited to use their swing (I was allowed to) and talking about pokemon cards.

McCartney gives me the same vibes, but that's very personal to me.

Having said that, I wouldn't personally choose either Macauley or McCartney as names, it's not my style.

Amber's fine and McCartney's not that bad, but it does feel more surname-y than Kennedy.

I know a Carthi (bassist for Crimson Apple), which I assume is derived from McCarthy, and I honestly love her name.

McCartney is really unattractive, especially for a girl.

McCartney is at least fresher than McKayla or McKinsley. It isn't my style especially since Mc means "son of" which is weird on a girl.

Amber is okay. It is dated, but I like it better than Ruby or Emerald.

I agree with you on Amber. It's not my style, but it's a sweet name.

McCartney feels very tied to Paul McCartney and I would assume that the mother named her daughter after him. I don't mind most surname names, but the sound is very unattractive to me.

I actually didn’t think of Paul McCartney when I heard the daughter’s name. I just assumed it was another surname-turned-first-name with “Mc” attached.
