It's my 1 year old's name. My very favorite.

It's ok

I love it lots, on its own but also with the nn Lena. It is quite gorgeous.

Love it but I'm biased because it's my middle name. I pronounce it HEHlina. I have always hated my real first name but love Helena.

One of my very favorites.

I prefer Eleanor. Helena has pronunciation problem built in: HELina? HeLEEna? And I prefer Helen to both Helena and Eleanor.

Unpopular opinion: I find Helena horribly dated and just a boring Latinization of the already dated Helen. Elena, Elina, Hera, and Hestia are much fresher and more interesting.

Although I prefer Helen, I love the name Helena! It's uncommon, but strong, elegant, and beautiful.

I used to really like it, but I'm tired of it. Don't get me wrong, it is perfectly fine, easy to live with and I wouldn't mind meeting a Helena.

However it feels like such a compromise name. It seems like a name that no one takes offense in, classic, not too popular, but it is just not very exciting. It is boring.

I find Elena prettier and more interesting, pronounced eh-LEE-na or eh-LAY-na.

The "hell" thing always bothered me a bit.

I love Helena. It's international and regal but not pretentious. She could be Nel or Lena for short if she chose but it's not too long a name to go by it in full.
