I don't mind it on a girl at all, it's quite nice! I love it on a boy. This is one that's grown on me in the last month or so.

If I heard Murphy without context, I would probably assume it was a boy. I do like it better than Sloane on a girl, but that is not a high bar.Eddie Murphy and Murphy beds are my top associations with the name, so I associate it with comedy and slightly awkward inventiveness.

I absolutely despise surnames as first names for either gender, but especially for girls. And that “urf” sound is incredibly unpleasant.

I like it. Even more so if it is a family name.

The murf sound is awful. Makes me think of Smurfs.

A girl? No way. Nope. No. I always think of Murphy's Law anyway.
