I won't defend Kayley, because the critiques are valid, but I like it. I like it a lot. If DH had been set on it, I would have said sure, but would have insisted we spell it Kaylie, because that's my preference. It makes me think of dancing even if the Anglicizing makes it unrecognizable.

I also like Haley and Bailey and I think it's adorable that the neighbor girl is named Maelee though I'm not about the spelling.

I honestly kind of like it. There are names much worse than Kayley out there. It sounds bright and happy and I like Kay as a nickname.

Kayley looks fine to me (better than many popular spellings of it) but I would choose Kayleigh. It just seems more substantial and grounded because of the song. So it has at least a bit of history.

Kaylee, Kayley, Kayleigh, Kaley, Caley - all look okay to me. So does Ceilidh. I don't really like Kailey and Kaylie but they are acceptable, of course. Strongly dislike Kayli, Kaeli, Kayly etc.

I generally don't seem to like many -ley/leigh/lee names in general. I prefer Kayley to Hayley though

I like Kaylee because of Firefly and because it actually sounds pretty cute and friendly to me. Kayley is less approachable. I should like Kaylie better than Kaylee but I don't :P

I'm sure you're shocked: I think it's horrendous. It's a flimsy, plastic name that I don't see lasting. It's not technically ugly like Hortense or anything, but it just seems like two trendy syllables mushed together and I just don't see how that can become a name, like, overnight.

I don’t care for the Kayley spelling, I prefer Kaley or maybe even Kailey.
I suppose maybe because I went to school with a couple Kaylee/Kayleys, that I don’t mind it. It’s much better, in my mind, than Agnes or Edith or Mildred.
It sounds cute and mischievous.

I knew a Kaylee. She was an infidel who dropped out of Bob Jones University because, well, she wasn't Bob Jones material, although her mother wanted her to be.

Welp, my sister named one of her daughters a Kayley close relative, Kaylin. Because her second husband likes it, and when she and her second husband were naming their children, she was all like, "Whatever you want, dear." Now she has name regret and wishes she had named her Carys.

This is a cellophane name. Transparent, almost invisible, just a little shiny and sugary. Candy you shouldn't have bought at the gas station.

Nah. It's the K start combined with the -ayley sound that makes it just a little bit too insubstantial for me. Kay- names in general I don't tend to vibe with.

Not a fan. I’m sick of all the K names in the same vein as Kayley. Kelsey, Kailey, Kaila/Kyla, Kendal, Keira, Kendra, Kenna, Kayla. No! No! No!

Yawn. Not the worst name ever but boring and inconsistent.

I only like a few names beginning with k, and Kayley isn’t one of them. People will make up (or probably already have) awful spellings for it like Keighlee or Kaelae. I’ve known a nice Kayley though.

I’m more used to it with the Kayleigh. It’s a very 80s name where I am. It’s not something I would use, at all, but I don’t think it’s terrible.

Never liked it, always sounded cutesy and babyish. Really like Kayla and think Kaylee is a rotten thing to do to it.

-ley names like Kayley all sound so similar and have so many variant spellings that they are completely devoid of personality. They're childish, don't age well because they have no real history or positive associations (save personal ones).

It's a NO for me. I'm not the biggest fan of most of the girl names ending in -ley. They all kind of sound alike to me.

YES, I like it A LOT. It was one of my first favorite names because it was in one of my favorite movies, Quest for Camelot. I think it's pretty. So there!

Not me, for one. Rhymes with scaly? Resembles a green, leafy vegetable? Nope.

I like it but only because of Firefly, and also an older girl in school who I just remember being super nice and upbeat. It reminds me of the Scottish dance (Ceilidh) too.

I prefer Kayla.
