The Quimbys loved those "ugly" old lady names: Beatrice, Ramona, and Roberta. Roberta was named after her father, though.

Beezus was named after her mom's sister, their Aunt Beatrice.
Ramona had friends named Howie and Willa Jean, for goodness sake. lol You can tell Beverly Cleary started writing those books in the fifties. She wrote the last one in the late nineties, where Ramona gets a new best friend named Daisy.
Did you know Cleary is still alive? She's 104.

I can see Daisy on a girl now , maybe not so much in the late 90's. B.C. was ahead of her time. ;)
