[Opinions] Theodora and its nicknames
Lately I've been digging Theodora, partly due to its association with the Byzantine empress. One thing I find appealing about the name is its abundance of nicknames. I've made a list of all I can think of...can you think of more? My favorite is Theo. It has an elegant, intellectual, but kind of tomboyish quality to it. Anyway, here's my list, which is your favorite, and why?
Theo
Thea
Teddy
Theda
Dora
Dory
Thora
Tee

Our Theodora goes by Theda after my ex’s grandmother, So it has become my favourite. But I think without that connection my favourites probably would have been Dora or Thora.
Even though we call her Theda and Theodora interchangeably, my daughter has only ever referred to herself as Theodora. She’s three.
My least favourite of the nicknames is Thea, but only because it’s becoming too popular. It’s still very pretty.

I really like Theodora as well. Thea is by far my favorite nn. I adore it! I also like Theo and Teddy very much. While Dora isn't exactly a favorite of mine for a human, it's the name of my Chihuahua, Teodora "Dora" and it suits her perfectly. ;-) I suppose it would work for an adorable baby/child as well.
I know a Theodora who loathes her name with the white-hot passion of a million exploding galaxies. She's the eldest child, their father is a lay preacher, he picked her name with pride and love, and he's the only person who uses it! She goes by Theo. Last time I saw her, she was in uniform (she works for an airline) and her name tag was Theodora: I didn't like to ask.
I hope that means she's come around to liking her name. A happy ending for everyone.
Or her boss was a disgruntled old man/lady who insisted on calling everyone by their full name lol idk just a thought

I love Theodora! I would never use it though because I would use Theodore on a boy. Thea is probably my favourite nickname and I quite like Theo too. Teddy and Dory are a bit more masculine to me. Dora makes me think of Dora the explorer but despite that it’s cute. I’m not a fan of Theda tbh. Tee is one of the last nicknames I would use but it still works.
Well I have a Theodora and we planned for plenty of nicknames and use none! We thought we'd use Teddy but it never suited and we did use Theo for a short time but I don't like it much now and she doesn't like it either. She does get called Dordor by us which is how she pronounced her name when she was tiny, super cute.
I think I prefer it in full. I'm not the hugest fan of nicknames in general. Especially when the full name is so pretty.
