Ashley and Anessa met when Nessa showed up at the hotel where Ash worked. The owners had hired Nessa to help them revamp the hotel's website. Ash pointed her in the right direction, wishing it wouldn't seem wrong to ask her out right the and there. As Nessa left, she slipped Ash a note with her phone number and the rest was history.
As a birthday present for Ash, Nessa bought a corgi for the two of them. Ash named him Shakespeare and they hit it off. Nessa loves sitting back and watching Ash play with Shakespeare, joining in from time to time.
Unfortunately, business at the hotel hasn't been great, resulting in a cut to Ash's hours. Nessa insists that they'll be okay but Ash is still considering getting another part time job.

For the first time in years, Ash decided to go to the big summer family reunion for her dad's family. Ever since she came out as a lesbian in high school, her family reunions had gotten awkward. However, after almost twenty years, she's been in contact with some of her cousins and the climate seems to have changed. Nessa made Ash promise that they'd leave immediately if either of them felt uncomfortable.
Sadly, the hotel ended up having to let Ash go. Because they need the money, Ash ended up taking cashier job working retail until she can find something more in tune with what she really wants to do.

On their most recent anniversary, Nessa and Ash started talking about having kids. Ash realized she wanted them more than she thought as Nessa went on and on about how much she's dreamt of having kids. Maybe it was the thought of having them with Nessa that excited Ash. They started looking to adopt, but so far, nothing has come through.
Just as they started to discuss whether they wanted to keep looking to adopt, one of Ash's young coworkers came to work sobbing. After talking with her, the coworker explained to Ash that she just found out that she's pregnant at only sixteen. Ash talked it over with Nessa and they decided to offer to adopt the baby. The coworker agreed.
She ended up giving birth to a baby girl. Nessa and Ash named her Emmalyn Rose. Since Ash has fewer hours and Nessa works mostly from home, they've been easily able to split the childcare evenly between them. Ash loves seeing the look in Nessa's eyes when she holds Emmalyn.

After adopting Emmalyn last year, Nessa and Ash decided to keep looking to adopt another child. Shortly after they began their continued search, they were matched with a three year old little boy, Rainier Michael. He seems to be settling in well with Emmalyn.
In what spare time she has now, Ash has taken up writing, prose and poetry alike. She's taking classes at the community college and has even sent some pieces in to magazines. One even got accepted!

The big thing that happened this year? Ash officially quit worming retail to open a bed and breakfast with one of her close friends. She's in charge of the decor and the hospitality while the friend owns the building and runs the kitchen. Ash loves it!

The bed and breakfast has only been open a year, but as her parents are getting older, Nessa's family wants them closer. As Nessa moved to the east coast from California, that means packing up for a cross-country move. Though Ash originally had her doubts, Nessa easily convinced her to go after showing her pictures of their new home... and the new B&B that they'll be opening together.

What with their recent cross-country move, Ash has been a little homesick for York and the east coast. Noticing this and worrying about her wife, Nessa covertly bought the whole family tickets to Pennsylvania to attend the big summer family reunion. Ash was over the moon.
Fortunately, business at the Cali B&B has been booming! Ash is really proud of how far it's come in just a year. She's even been able to give herself a pay raise. Success smells sweet!

Ever since they adopted Rainier and Emmalyn, Nessa started taking online classes on the down low to become a social worker herself. However, she didn't tell Ash, wanting it to be a surprise until she got the job, but when she did tell Ash, it backfired.
Ash got really angry with Nessa, the argument blowing up and lasting longer than either preferred. It ended when Ash left the house to go stay in one of the rooms at the B&B. She stayed there for several days. They almost separated legally, but Nessa swore they could go to couple's counselling and their therapist helped them work through the bulk of it.

After working through their problems, Ash and Nessa talked about adding another member to their family. Once again, they started the process to adopt and once again, it fell through. No new family members yet.
Ash thinks it is perhaps for the better since Nessa's mother got really sick and died. An environment of grief and sorrow isn't a good one to bring a new family member into, especially a young one.

Another adoption attempt and again, another failure. Nessa insists that she's okay with it, but Ash sees through the facade, but she once again believes it to be for the best. Rainier got up the courage to tell them that he felt like he was born in the wrong body. After some more discussions with Rainier to understand more, Ash and Nessa agreed to use the she/her pronouns and the new name their daughter choose: Annabeth, after the character from the Percy Jackson books, with the middle name Raina to honor her birth name.

She's in the process of publishing her first poetry book, writing her first novel, and workshopping her first play. All three projects have been on the back burner for years, simmering and developing, so Nessa wasn't surprised when Ash finally started getting the recognition.

After trying to adopt, Ash and Nessa were finally matched with a pair of three year old twins, Faeryn and Alden. Annabeth and Emmalyn have been helping the twins settle into their new life. Faeryn has been having a little bit of trouble, but has really bonded with Annabeth.
Shortly after Faeryn and Alden joined the family, Ash's dad passed away. Nessa took control and planned their trip back east for Ash so she could grieve in her own time without needing to juggle travel plans as well.

After some discussion, Ash and Nessa agreed to try adopting again so that Faeryn and Alden would have siblings closer in age than Emmalyn and Annabeth. However, in a similar streak of bad luck, they once again did not match.
However, just as soon as they were going to give up, a young mom of two, just twenty years old, showed up at Nessa's office. Unable to help through the official channels, Nessa offered her a room at their home after conferring with Ash. The woman collapsed in Nessa's arms, sobbing her thanks.

After trying for a few years, Nessa and Ash were matched with another set of twins, identical little girls, age four. Faeryn perked right up when tbey joined the family and took them under her wing, and Millie instantly became their bestie.
Brianne also chose to bring someone new to the house, her boyfriend Marshall Xu. They've been dating for about a year, and Marshall recently lost his roommates and thus his housing. Ash and Nessa volunteered to allow him to move in and Brianne snapped up the opportunity.

Recently, Marshall got a promotion. It allowed him to move out again. The first few months, Brianne and the kids stayed with the Tracys but when Ash and Nessa started discussing adopting again, Brianne decided to move in with Marshall, insisting that Ash and Nessa deserved the space in their house for their own kids.
When Brianne and Marshall chose to get their own apartment, Ash and Nessa decided to try adopting again. Almost immediately, they were paired with a two year old little boy named Grayson. Alden is thankful to have another boy in the house, after living in a house full of girls for the last few years.
After a few years off from the hospitality industry, Ash decided to return. Using the money she's saved after her success in the writing field, she's bought another B&B to run. Unlike the last time, however, she's chosen to keep writing as well.

With more space since Marshall and Brianne moved out, Ash and Nessa decided to adopt again. A newborn baby boy fell into their arms almost immediately. They named him Tristan Bartholomew.
One day, Faeryn started talking to Annabeth about her gender. Annabeth explained how she was born a boy but realized when she was younger that she was actually a girl. Faeryn thought about it for a moment before asking if it was possible to be neither. Annabeth brought the conversation to Ash and Nessa's attention. After further conversation, Faeryn decided to go by they/them and asked to be called Azure, after their favorite color, or Azzie for short.
Now that they're living in their own place and engaged, Brianne and Marshall decided to try for a baby together. After trying for a year with no luck, Marshall has started wondering if maybe there's something off with his sperm, since Brianne has already had two kids.
Brianne, however, insists that it's because she's been working too much. She recently got promoted to the manager position at the restaurant and has thus had more stress and more on her plate. Because she's been more stressed than ever before, she worries that her stress levels are what's affecting her ability to conceive.

Ash and Nessa recently adopted an older child, a girl of fourteen who got kicked out of her house two years ago after coming out to her parents at twelve. Both and Ash really related to the girl and quickly agreed to adopt her when her files came across Nessa's desk.
As soon as she settled in, Ximena begged Ash and Nessa to let her best friend, an older girl who had taken her under her wing, come live with them too. Another child kicked out for being a lesbian, Ash jumped at the chance to help. Nessa agreed to help since the girl was almost eighteen.
What with a transgender child, a nonbinary child, a bisexual child, and two lesbian children now living under their roof, as well as being a bisexual woman married to a woman, Nessa decided to leave her job as a social worker for a position at a homeless shelter focussing on LGBTQ+ youth. She couldn't stand the thought of more kids out there like Ximena and Bea, living on the streets because their parents are bigoted. Nessa wants to do everything she can to help and this felt like the most logical next step.
After years in the fast food industry, Brianne left to work at a high class restaurant. She was tired of being mistreated by coworkers and customers alike. Though waitressing comes with a lower pay rate than a manager at a fast food restaurant, she much prefers the environment.

After talking with her, the coworker explained to Ash that she just found out that she's pregnant at only sixteen. Ash talked it over with Nessa and they decided to offer to adopt the baby. The coworker agreed.
She ended up giving birth to a baby girl. Nessa and Ash named her Emmalyn Rose. Since Ash has fewer hours and Nessa works mostly from home, they've been easily able to split the childcare evenly between them. Ash loves seeing the look in Nessa's eyes when she holds Emmalyn.

Ever since they adopted Rainier and Emmalyn, Nessa started taking online classes on the down low to become a social worker herself. However, she didn't tell Ash, wanting it to be a surprise until she got the job, but when she did tell Ash, it backfired.
Ash got really angry with Nessa, the argument blowing up and lasting longer than either preferred. It ended when Ash left the house to go stay in one of the rooms at the B&B. She stayed there for several days. They almost separated legally, but Nessa swore they could go to couple's counselling and their therapist helped them work through the bulk of it.

Rainier got up the courage to tell them that he felt like he was born in the wrong body. After some more discussions with Rainier to understand more, Ash and Nessa agreed to use the she/her pronouns and the new name their daughter choose: Annabeth, after the character from the Percy Jackson books, with the middle name Raina to honor her birth name.

After trying for a few years, Nessa and Ash were matched with another set of twins, identical little girls, age four. Faeryn perked right up when tbey joined the family and took them under her wing, and Millie instantly became their bestie.

Recently, Marshall got a promotion. It allowed him to move out again. With more space since Marshall and Brianne moved out, Ash and Nessa decided to adopt again. A newborn baby boy fell into their arms almost immediately. They named him Tristan Bartholomew.
One day, Faeryn started talking to Annabeth about her gender. Annabeth explained how she was born a boy but realized when she was younger that she was actually a girl. Faeryn thought about it for a moment before asking if it was possible to be neither. Annabeth brought the conversation to Ash and Nessa's attention. After further conversation, Faeryn decided to go by they/them and asked to be called Azure, after their favorite color, or Azzie for short.
Now that they're living in their own place and engaged, Brianne and Marshall decided to try for a baby together. After trying for a year with no luck, Marshall has started wondering if maybe there's something off with his sperm, since Brianne has already had two kids.
Brianne, however, insists that it's because she's been working too much. She recently got promoted to the manager position at the restaurant and has thus had more stress and more on her plate. Because she's been more stressed than ever before, she worries that her stress levels are what's affecting her ability to conceive.

Ash and Nessa recently adopted an older child, a girl of fourteen who got kicked out of her house two years ago after coming out to her parents at twelve. Both and Ash really related to the girl and quickly agreed to adopt her when her files came across Nessa's desk.
As soon as she settled in, Ximena begged Ash and Nessa to let her best friend, an older girl who had taken her under her wing, come live with them too. Another child kicked out for being a lesbian, Ash jumped at the chance to help. Nessa agreed to help since the girl was almost eighteen.
What with a transgender child, a nonbinary child, a bisexual child, and two lesbian children now living under their roof, as well as being a bisexual woman married to a woman, Nessa decided to leave her job as a social worker for a position at a homeless shelter focussing on LGBTQ+ youth. She couldn't stand the thought of more kids out there like Ximena and Bea, living on the streets because their parents are bigoted. Nessa wants to do everything she can to help and this felt like the most logical next step.
After years in the fast food industry, Brianne left to work at a high class restaurant. She was tired of being mistreated by coworkers and customers alike. Though waitressing comes with a lower pay rate than a manager at a fast food restaurant, she much prefers the environment.
